In this collaborative English and Art project, we explored the different frontiers in art in the San Diego Museum of Contemporary Art (SDMOCA). To begin, we researched background information on a few artists and found out what the frontier in there art is. All of these artists had a piece of work at the Museum of Contemporary Art, which we toured to find pieces that resinated with us. We the researched them further and debated in front of our teachers and peers in attempts to "win" the art piece. Once a single art piece was assigned to us, we researched the artist and piece extensively. For our exhibition, we created an art card containing information regarding our artist, the artwork, and our interpretation. On the back we displayed an art piece we created inspired by our artist. We presented at the Museum of Contemporary Art with our card to the public of SDMOCA. I chose to create a real 360-degree model of High Tech High. In order to accomplish this goal, I needed an iPhone configured with the Photosynth 360 photo application.
I created this because as a Leader of the Student Ambassadors, I have walked and showed this school to many people from all around the world. Many comment on the odd architecture that HTH has and pay thousands of dollars to come visit our school. I want those who are less privileged, to still visualize and perhaps incorporate some of the same values and beauty that High Tech High provides. This art piece explains and represents a different side of my high school which many do not have the chance to see.
